Chiefly business papers of Jonathan Peele, Jr., and Willard Peele, merchants, who initiated American pepper trade with Sumatra, including correspondence, ships' papers, account books, receipts, and printed material. Includes papers of the first voyage of the schooner Rajah which returned with the first cargo of pepper from Sumatra and papers of twenty-two other vessels engaged in coastal trade in America or in trade with ports in Europe and Asia.
